Overview
Passkeys are a modern, secure alternative to passwords. Instead of remembering a password, you sign in using an authenticator on your device, for example, with Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, or a hardware security key. Passkeys are designed to be both easier to use and far more secure than traditional passwords.
A passkey is a digital credential stored on your device. It replaces your password entirely. When you sign in, your device proves your identity using a biometric check (like a fingerprint or face scan) or a device PIN.
A passkey consists of two parts:
- A private key stored securely on your device
- A public key stored by Zentitle V10
The private key never leaves your device. When you sign in, your device uses it to generate a secure, one‑time proof that you are the legitimate account owner. Passkeys eliminate many weaknesses of passwords e.g.
- No password to steal — nothing private is typed or transmitted
- No phishing — attackers cannot trick you into “entering” a passkey
- No reuse — each passkey is unique to your account and chosen authenticator
- No guessing — passkeys cannot be brute‑forced
- No data breaches — we never store your private key
Passkeys are built on the WebAuthn standard, used by major platforms including Apple, Google, and Microsoft. They also make signing in faster: often just a tap, glance, or fingerprint.
NOTE: You will still need to enter your Zentitle V10 username to login via passkey.
Account Recovery Codes are your fallback option when the usual ways of signing in aren’t available. Because passkeys live on your devices, you might lose access to them if a device is replaced, wiped, or simply not at hand. Recovery Codes ensure you can still get into your Zentitle V10 account even in those situations. Each code is single‑use and works as a temporary login method when your passkey isn’t available.
Recovery Codes also give you a secure way to regain access if you forget or lose your username and/or password, or if you are unable to obtain a new password using the Forgot Password link on the login page.
Zentitle V10 gives you a straightforward, modern way to secure your account using passkeys. You can create passkeys on as many authenticators as you like — whether that’s Windows Hello on your PC, Touch ID or Face ID on your Mac or iPhone, a YubiKey, an Android device, or any other supported platform. Each passkey lets you sign in quickly and securely without ever typing a password. To ensure you always have a fallback, Zentitle also generates a set of 10 single‑use Account Recovery Codes when you create your first passkey. These codes act as your emergency backup login method and should be copied, kept secret, and stored somewhere safe. Together, passkeys and recovery codes give you both convenience and a reliable way to regain access to your account whenever you need it without ever having to remember a password.
Creating Passkeys and Recovery Codes
How to create a passkey
To create a passkey for your Zentitle V10 account, begin by signing in using your usual login method. Once you’re in, open the black navigation bar and go to My Account > My Settings.
On this page, you’ll see an option to Create Passkey. Select it, and your device will prompt you to confirm the action — this may be a fingerprint scan, facial recognition, a PIN, or a hardware security key, depending on the device you’re using.
After you approve the prompt, your new passkey is created and securely stored on that device.
Automatic Creation of Recovery Codes
Immediately after your first passkey is created:
- A set of ten single‑use Recovery Codes is automatically generated and displayed.
- You’ll be prompted to download or copy to clipboard these codes.
- Each code can be used once to sign in if you cannot use a passkey.
- After you download or copy these recovery codes, Zentitle V10 will not display them again so ensure that you keep them secret and safe.
Logging in with Passkeys
Once you’ve created a passkey, signing in becomes fast and secure - no password required.
To sign in with a passkey
- Go to the Zentitle V10 login page.
- Select Sign in with Passkey.
- Choose the passkey you want to use (if prompted).
- Approve the authentication request on your device.
You can create passkeys on multiple devices for convenience, for example, on your laptop and on your phone.
Using Account Recovery Codes
If you cannot use your passkey, for example, if your device is lost, replaced, wiped, or unavailable and if you've lost your usual login password, you can still sign in using one of your Recovery Codes.
To sign in with a Recovery Code
- On the login page, select Use a Recovery Code as shown above.
- Enter one of your unused codes to access your Zentitle V10 account.
Best practices
- Store your Recovery Codes somewhere safe and offline.
- Treat them like you would treat a physical backup key.
- Generate a new passkey and/or login password as soon as you have logged in with the recovery code. Use this to login to Zentitle V10 from then on.
If All Else Fails...
If all of the following apply:
- You have no available recovery codes
- You have no working passkeys
- You have lost or forgotten your login username and/or password
- The Forgot Password link on the login page doesn't send a new password to an email address you can currently access
