NLS 10 has a number of processes to beat the standard trick of trying to extend a trial or activation by back-dating the system clock.
NLS 10 looks to see if the last access time of the license is more than an hour later (yearly time change amount) than the current system time. If it is, the backtime counter is incremented. Every time the program is started and the license read in, the time is checked. So, if someone sets back the system time they will get up to (depending on how you stamped the library) 9 runs of the software then it will timebomb out.
At that point, the software will not start until a new license is obtained from the Zentitle server.
Here's the process technically and the error:
1.) Get trial
2.) set date back
3.) Check license status - OK
Check license status - OK
Check license status - OK
Check license status - OK
Check license status - OK
Check license status - Invalid license -4
This avoid issues with a legitimate time change for most users but stops any form of long term abuse, this means good protection and low technical support.
