  NOTE: The safest way to update the daemon's database from PostgreSQL 11 to PostgreSQL 13 is to return all licenses on the daemon to Nalpeiron, stop the daemon, remove the current RPM and install new RPMs. We understand that that procedure can be onerous especially when operating completely offline. The new RPMs will automatically upgrade a database from PostgreSQL v11 to PostgreSQL v13. We have made every effort to test this upgrade and ensure that it is error free. 
  
  Also, the daemon's PostgreSQL needs UTF-8-en locale. This is no longer installed by default on some Linux distributions. It is now a requirement of the RPMs and, as such, should now be handled automatically.

• Update (IMPORTANT): Client-Side Library Version 4.1.0.4 is compatible with LAN Daemon Version 3.1.0.4. However, it is not compatible with earlier versions of the LAN Daemon. As a consequence, updating the library to this version will necessitate an update of the LAN Daemon, if used, to Version 3.1.0.4. LAN Daemon Version 3.1.0.4 is compatible with earlier versions of the Client-Side Library.
• Update: Increased security on client/server and client/daemon transactions.
• Bugfix: Fixed hard coded IP addresses in daemon diagnostic.
• Update: Fixed Daemon's documentation as presented in the web GUI.
• Bugfix: Increased time system will wait for a daemon shutdown to help stop improper daemon shutdown.
• Update : The client secure store is retrained when the license is returned to the daemon with NSLReturnLicense. However, if the license is revoked or marked invalid due to missed heartbeats then the secure store will not be retained.

• Update (IMPORTANT): The Nalpeiron LAN daemon has been updated to Postgresql 13. At the current time, there is no upgrade path for the LAN daemon from Postgresql 11 to Postgresql 13. If you wish to install the new daemon over an existing daemon then the only way to do so is to uninstall the old daemon and install the new daemon from scratch. An upgrade path is forthcoming.
• Update (IMPORTANT): Possible breaking change: All internally used open source libraries have been updated to their latest versions. This necessitated raising the minimum version of the Linux kernel to v2.6.32 or newer and a C library of 2.12 or newer. If your target Linux system is older than either of these two versions then you should not update.
• Update: Created Debian packages for the Nalpeiron LAN daemon. Package and support for Debian, Ubuntu, etc. are now available.
• Bugfix: Fixed the command line tool nalpControl to allow import of a license into the daemon from a file. This bug affected only the command line tool and its use.
• Bugfix: Daemon would refuse to run if it could not verify the system was non-fips. Changed to: Daemon will refuse to run if it can verify the system is fips.

• Update: During a license refresh the daemon now attempts to "heal" corrupt license information rather than erroring out.
• Bugfix: Fixed daemon's installation scripts. In certain circumstances, the deamon's database wasn't correctly shutdown during an upgrade. This could lead to license verification errors.

NOTES:

1) One of the consequences of IPV6 awareness is the fact that when the daemon locks to its IP addresses that will include both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. Previous versions of the daemon did not use IPv6 addresses. Before updating to the new daemon you should return all licenses (both product and master licenses) to the Zentitle server. If you fail to do so, then each license will show an additional activation when the new daemon activates them. If you do not return the licenses, you will have to remove these activations manually.

2) Trial licenses are not allowed on the daemon. This may be revisited at some point in the future. For now, if you'd like the functionality of trial licensing on the daemon you should use time limited subscription licenses.

3) If you are updating from a previous daemon, the update process may wrongly change the daemon queue length to 30. You can check to see if this is the case on the main GUI page (daemon tab). If the Log Queue Length has been set to 30, you should stop the daemon, change it back to 500 then restart the daemon.
